I know, I haven't been given the link to the AHA MySpace site yet. Once I have that I will be able to set that link up correctly also.

A couple of quick observations (not really meaning to complain but...). I really like the font but at my old age, it doesn't show up as clearly as some of the more classic fonts and makes it difficult to read in Firefox. It looks fine in IE but there are some like me that don't like stupid IE. Not sure if it is just my computer specifically...

On the Field Guide section, the species and subspecies names should not be capitalized... it should be lower-case for all except Genus name.
I currently use Firefox as my main browser, and personally don't know if it is because of my FIrefox settings or an issue with the font type being properly embeded. I will look into that issue though.

Additionally, once I get an updated file from Norm on the capitalization issue, I will make sure the information is updated.

Depending on how you did the @font-face, IE users won't be seeing the cool font ... that's probably all it is. It doesn't *feel* normal to see something outside the normal set used as a body font.

Additionally, thank you to everyone who has reviewed the site. I know it means a lot to me to hear the feedback, and I am sure Bryan is the same.

Ha ha. TECHNICALLY it's venemous. The way it works is if I say something is venemous it displays a generic warning... Maybe we could word the warning better...

Though they do have some mild venom, I don't think they really belong in with the Crotes and coral. It would be enough to mention it as part of the animal's natural history and leave it with that, otherwise we'd have to add quite a bit of stuff to that section.

Good point. In the next release I'll just add the venom info to the description and remove the "venemous" flag that triggers that warning

I think the filter there is "is it dangerous", realizing that most of the people who really find that section useful will be people who aren't knowledgeable of snakes who want to know if the groundsnake in their garage is going to kill their dog.

Maybe this should be on every page to keep idiots from messing with any snake. Maybe put it on the lizards as well.

I know I know, it would just give those scaredy cats more false reasons to kill any herp. It was just an idea

The first look I had at the site was last night on my cell phone. I loved it then, and when I got home, my son and I started poking around looking at it more on our laptops (my PC with ie and his Mac with firefox) I didn't notice a real difference in the browser, but I was looking more at the design and that beautiful photo at the top instead of the old photo. Nate said that one of the two at the top will rotate out occasionally, which is very cool.

I love the layout of the new site, and how it does encourage both field herpers and home herpers, plus is more helpful for the average person that is saying "OMG! Snake! What is that!!! Is it going to kill Fluffy?" and help them to deternine that it's not a rattler, but just a gopher snake.

Ken, the encounters link on the main page is also broken.

http://azreptiles.com/encounters.php

That's the only other thing I've found so far.

Very Nice!!! That 2001 build was getting a little stale.
Still hard to imagine the lowly beginnings on Geocities in 1997 turning into this. Kudos to Ken, Bryan and all of you who contributed!

Thanks. Again, it looks great and I am not trying to be picky... just trying to help

Thanks. I don't think it's the font size, it's something with reading the particular font. What font is this that the site is using? Maybe if I had the font on my computer, it will read it better. Not sure... I have my Firefox enabled to use the specific website's font and not a predetermined one by me so it is choosing whichever font the site dictates.

Here is what the website looks on my computer on Firefox:

And here is what it looks like on IE (big difference):

It goes without saying that Ken, Bryan & BIll are owed a big thank you for the hard work it has taken over the years to build/maintain the various websites.

But there is someone else who does deserve a lot of credit, even though this person did none of the programming, and that is our President Nate. This is something the AHA has been needing for a long time, and for a multitude of reasons it never happened. A lot of painstaking coordination, phone calls, and politic-ing was done behind the scenes to make this happen. You have to give Nate credit for making this finally happen on his watch

Like klaubs really need to be "protected" here in Az! LOL

Chip may think they're trash, but I've always had a soft spot for 'em!

So true felicker many the all the AHA website pioneers and current webmasters who have made this new site possible.

This is a momnet in the present March 2010 with the start of this new website for the AHA organization and it's members to start on a clean slate with a new website to become a reputable herp organization once again for all those who love and care about reptiles around the state and worldwide. Forget about the past, we AHA members and the board need to focus coming together in the present and creating a better future by more members getting involved and donating their time and effort.
